Private 3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Your adventure begins with a private pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. We’ll journey into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass – offering incredible views of Berber villages and rugged landscapes. Your knowledgeable driver/guide will share insights into local culture and history as we go.

Our first major stop is Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. Explore its ancient clay walls and narrow alleys, imagining life within this historic fortress that has served as a backdrop for countless films. After lunch in Ouarzazate (not included), we’ll continue to the Skoura Oasis, visiting Kasbah Amridil – a beautiful example of traditional Moroccan architecture nestled amongst lush palm groves.

The day concludes in the Dades Valley, known for its unique rock formations nicknamed the “Monkey Fingers.” Check into your cozy riad or guesthouse and enjoy a warm welcome and delicious dinner.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll drive to the stunning Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most breathtaking natural wonders (approx. 1 hour). Along the way, enjoy a refreshing stroll through the peaceful Tinghir Oasis. The towering 300-meter cliffs of Todra Gorge are perfect for photos and soaking in the dramatic scenery.

Next, we’ll visit Rissani, a historic town known for its vibrant palm dates market and rich cultural heritage. We’ll stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, founder of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty – an important glimpse into the country’s royal history. Don’t miss exploring the bustling market!

The day culminates in Merzouga, the gateway to Erg Chebbi. As the sun begins to set, embark on a magical camel trek across the golden sands to our private Sahara desert camp. Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner under a blanket of stars, accompanied by traditional Berber music and storytelling – an unforgettable experience!

Wake up early for an optional sunrise climb on the Erg Chebbi dunes – a truly breathtaking moment as the first light illuminates the desert landscape. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your desert camp before beginning our journey back to Marrakech.

As we leave the Sahara behind, we’ll pass through the lush Draa Valley, a striking contrast to the arid desert. We’ll also wind through the rugged Anti-Atlas Mountains and make a stop in Ouarzazate, home to the famous Atlas Film Studios – “Morocco’s Hollywood.” Take a guided tour (optional) to learn about this fascinating studio and its history.

The drive back to Marrakech is more than just transportation; it’s a chance to reflect on your incredible adventure. You’ll arrive in Marrakech with cherished memories of Morocco’s stunning landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality. We will drop you off at your hotel or the nearest accessible location if your Riad is not reachable by car.
