Day Trip to the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech

Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your Marrakech accommodation in our air-conditioned Toyota Land Cruiser. As we leave the city behind, prepare to be captivated by the changing scenery as we journey towards the Atlas Mountains.

Our first stop is the Agafay Desert – a mesmerizing expanse of rocky hills and plateaus that resemble a lunar landscape. Capture stunning photos of this unique terrain before continuing to Lalla Takerkouste Lake, a peaceful oasis reflecting the grandeur of the surrounding mountains. For an unforgettable experience, embark on a traditional 1-hour camel ride across the desert, offering a truly authentic perspective.

Next, we ascend to the Kik Plateau, a high-altitude viewpoint boasting panoramic vistas of the valleys and peaks below – a photographer’s dream! The highlight of our journey is a visit to a local Berber village, where you’ll be warmly welcomed into a traditional home for an intimate tea ceremony. Share stories and learn about generations of Berber traditions while enjoying fresh bread and homemade olive oil. If your trip falls on a Saturday, we’ll also stop at the vibrant weekly Berber market – a lively hub of local commerce and culture.

Our final destination is Imlil, the gateway to Toubkal National Park and home to North Africa’s highest peak, Mount Toubkal. Here, you’ll embark on a guided hike through picturesque terraced fields and alongside refreshing mountain streams, leading to hidden waterfalls nestled within the valley. After your invigorating walk, indulge in a delicious 3-course lunch at a traditional Berber house, savoring authentic flavors while admiring the spectacular views of Mount Toubkal.
