3-Day Mount Toubkal Ascent Trek

Your adventure begins with a convenient 9:00 AM pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, followed by a scenic 90-minute drive to the High Atlas Mountains and the charming Berber village of Imlil (1740m). Here, you’ll meet your expert Atlas trekking guide and muleteer. They’ll expertly load your belongings onto mules and assist with renting any necessary hiking gear.

Leaving the Imlil Valley behind, your trek ascends to the Tizi N Mzik pass (2489m), offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains and the beautiful Azaden Valley. Amidst the serene Jeneper Forest, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by nature’s splendor.

After lunch, continue along the picturesque Azzaden Valley towards Tamssoulte village (2250m). The day concludes with an overnight stay in a local hut in Tamssoulte, where you can rest and recharge amidst the tranquil beauty of the mountains, ready for tomorrow’s adventure.

Today’s leg leads to the iconic Toubkal Refuge (3200m), nestled at the base of Mount Toubkal. Your journey begins with an ascent to the challenging Aguelzim Pass (3560m), passing by the stunning Ighouliden waterfalls. Pause for a picnic lunch and soak in the spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains – a truly unforgettable experience.

Post-lunch, your trek continues towards the Toubkal Mountain Refuge, your resting place for the night. Accommodation here is basic but comfortable, prioritizing essential needs. During summer months (weather permitting), we often opt for camping at the refuge, offering a unique opportunity to sleep under the stars.

The refuge provides the perfect setting to relax and recharge. Get a good night’s sleep in preparation for tomorrow’s exhilarating ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal!

Today marks the climax of your adventure as you ascend to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4167m)! To avoid the intense midday sun, we’ll set off early in the morning. The climb can be challenging, with difficulty varying depending on the season.

Reaching the summit is a moment of triumph and exhilaration! You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views – the vast Atlas Mountains range, charming Berber villages, and even glimpses of the sprawling Sahara desert. The scenery from this vantage point is truly unforgettable, making every step worthwhile. Take time to absorb the magnificent views and celebrate your achievement.

After savoring the moment, we’ll begin our descent back to Imlil, stopping for lunch at the Toubkal Refuge. Prepare for a long day of hiking – approximately 900m downwards after conquering nearly 2,500m upwards!

Once back in Imlil, you’ll meet your driver for a smooth transfer back to Marrakech, bringing your memorable 3-day trek in the Atlas Mountains to a close.
